Kong: ‘Absurd’ for Minos to claim that ‘a PH govt will mean a DAP-controlled govt’

Michael Kong

KUCHING, Nov 22: It is absurd for Dato Peter Minos to claim that a Pakatan Harapan (PH) government will mean a Democratic Action Party (DAP)-controlled government, says Michael Kong.

Kong, who is a special assistant to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen, said that is the same narrative that Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) has been playing up.

“As expounded by (PH chairman Dato Seri) Anwar Ibrahim, a PH-led government will be an inclusive government that will take care of the welfare of all Malaysians regardless of race or religion.

“Regardless of the political parties that are part of the government, no single party will have a say in all matters and all decisions are made collectively through the cabinet. This is the sort of Malaysia that all Malaysians yearn for and fought for.

“I can only take from Peter Minos’ apprehensive remark that this will be how a PN (Perikatan Nasional)-led government would be; a government that (sic) PAS will dictate all policies. In such a scenario, how will a PAS-controlled government be in the interests of all Sarawakians?” he questioned in a press statement.

He added that gone are the days when a party is judged based on labels.

“Instead, now the people judge the respective parties based on performance and I believe that a PH-led government led by Anwar Ibrahim would be able to steer this country to political stability and economic prosperity,” said Kong.

In a statement yesterday, Minos had claimed that since DAP is the strongest party in PH, DAP will control PH prime minister candidate Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim. — DayakDaily
