KUCHING, April 21: Michael Kong, a special assistant to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen, calls for Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) to immediately address the uncollected domestic waste at Jalan Stakan and Jalan Jamboree.

According to Kong in a statement today, the matter is a recurring problem.

“As such, urgent attention is required from MPKS chairman (Dato) Peter Minos. If the current contractors are unable to fulfill their responsibilities adequately, MPKS must intervene and replace them promptly.

“Allowing such neglect to persist reflects poorly on MPKS’s commitment to its responsibilities and the well-being of residents,” he said.

Kong also urged the council to immediately conduct a thoroughly investigation on the matter including taking decisive action to rectify the situation along Jalan Jamboree.

He said the community’s health and safety should be top priority, and MPKS cannot afford to turn a blind eye to such pressing issues.

“Residents along Jalan Jamboree have raised concerns regarding the accumulation of domestic waste, which has remained uncollected by MPKS’ contractors for over a week.

“Despite residents’ efforts to address the issue directly with MPKS, no action has been taken to resolve it,” he added. — DayakDaily
