KUCHING, April 20: The traffic lights that have been set up at roundabouts have substantially solved traffic problems in Kota Samarahan, says Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos.

In a statement today, Minos said the upcoming Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project to be implemented in Kota Samarahan would also help to further facilitate residents in the district.

“The public is, of course, already aware of the big projects ongoing and coming up in Samarahan, such as the huge Unimas Hospital, Cancer Centre, Centre for Infectious Disease Control, including the private sector project (Arden City), and many others,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minos said next month, Samarahan is set to host two iconic events, namely the Samarahan Marathon (May 11-12) and the Samarahan Food and Cultural Festival (May 10-19).

He added that MPKS hoped that the two events would put Samarahan on the world map. — DayakDaily
