KUCHING, Jan 4: Transport Minister Anthony Loke has announced that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will revamp the road tax system this year, putting an end to the use of the irksome blue road tax stickers.

Loke mentioned in a Facebook post yesterday (Jan 3) that he had met with JPJ’s top management and received a briefing on the department’s 2023 plans.

Among the main agenda items is the implementation of digitalisation in core citizen services such as vehicle licensing and driver licensing, as well as the strengthening of traffic law enforcement.

“I know a lot of people have been complaining about the poor quality road tax stickers. The matter is in our attention and a big change is about to take place this year,” he disclosed.

He said the implementation of any new initiatives will be meticulously planned and that he will make an announcement once all preparations are complete.

“Our main goal is to make life easier for people, and I don’t want to see people standing in long lines at JPJ offices, which is inconvenient for them,” he added. — DayakDaily
