BINTULU, Aug 29: Bintulu Port Authority (BPA) staff will be rewarded with a special incentive equivalent to two months’ salary following the successfull transition of the port’s management to the Sarawak government.
According to a report by TVS, Minister of Transport (MOT) Anthony Loke said the incentive would be given on a pro-rata basis, together with a one-off payment, as a token of appreciation for the professionalism and commitment shown by staff throughout the transition process.
“This incentive is a token of appreciation for the professionalism and commitment of staff who continued to carry out their responsibilities with dedication even as the organisation was on the verge of undergoing change,” he said during his speech at the Bintulu Port Authority’s farewell ceremony from the federal government last night (Aug 28).
He said MOT had prioritised the welfare of staff during the takeover by ensuring their employment opportunities remained unaffected and their families’ wellbeing continued to be safeguarded.
Loke said the special incentive also reflected the government’s appreciation for the role played by LPB staff in ensuring the port continued to operate smoothly during the transition.
“The provision of this special incentive reflects our appreciation for the spirit and role of staff who have continued to carry out their responsibilities with dedication,” he said.
Also present was Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and BPA general manager Captain Zakhir Khan Yusop. — DayakDaily
