“For this Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration and like in previous years, JPJ will go undercover to ensure that drivers and passengers alike safely reach their respective destinations.

“And not only that, drivers of express busses and the assistant drivers are also tested for drug abuse,” Norizan told reporters today during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri operation programme at Kuching Sentral Bus Terminal here.

Joining the operation was also a team from National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK).

Norizan stressed that express busses were also inspected to ensure road worthiness, adding that he was satisfied with the results.

He also pointed out that none of the express bus drivers so far had tested positive for drug abuse after taking urine tests.

Meanwhile, Norizan told reporters roadblocks will be carried out at 53 locations, mainly to focus on motorcycle users.

“Our past records showed that most accidents involve motorcycles, so for this year, our roadblocks at 53 hotpots will be held,” he asserted.

On express busses from Indonesia (Kalimantan), he explained that the busses were also inspected based on the laws of the country.

“Not only are the busses inspected but also the drivers, for drug abuse,” he added. — DayakDaily
