Innovation culture, foundation of local govt machinery – Dr Sim

MIRI, Oct 12: The Ministry for Local Government and Housing Sarawak will continue to intensify efforts in furthering an innovation culture to ensure faster, more efficient and effective service delivery system.

In disclosing this at the launching of ‘INNOWASTE Programme 2020’ here today, Minister for Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said that innovation and creativity had been always be the foundation of local government machinery in further improving work performance, quality and productivity.


He reminded local authorities and state government agencies not to tire of continuing to innovate and find new ideas and, if possible, to collaborate and cooperate with one another to deliver excellent service.

Sim added, that the organising of INNOWASTE is in line with the government’s efforts to make innovation as one of the main agenda in transforming the country, leveraging on innovative human capital.

“Innovation and transformation are very much needed during these challenging times, with the Covid-19 pandemic still raging out there in the world, I believe we all have to play our part,” he opined.

He said, waste management innovation has become the state government’s priority.

The INNOWASTE programme 2020 is held in conjunction with the State Civil Service Innovation Week and being organised by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing in collaboration with Miri City Council (MCC).

Also present were Minister for Transport Sarawak Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister for Local Government and Housing Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting, Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni, permanent secretary to the Ministry of Local Government and Housing Datu Antonio Kahti Galis, mayor Adam Yii and deputy mayor Julaihi Mohamad. —DayakDaily
