MIRI,June 2: Thieves are taking advantage of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to desecrate graves in search for valuables.

At least 10 graves at the Anglican cemetery in Riam were discovered vandalised this afternoon, with several valuable items belonged to the deceased missing.

The incident was uncovered by a family member of the entombed when they went to visit their loved one’s grave earlier today.

However, no police report has been lodged regarding the incident so far, revealed Miri Police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted today.

On October 25 last year, the same cemetery was ransacked by a group of individuals. They broke into several grave plots within the area looking for valuables.

One of the suspects, a boy, aged 15, was detained in connection with the incident. — DayakDaily
