SIBU, Nov 10: SJK Kiew Nang has so far received RM2 million from the government and other sources, says Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for P211 Lanang, Wong Ching Yong.

Wong revealed this at a press conference today to refute allegations by Lanang incumbent Alice Lau that Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) had broken its promise of channelling RM400,000 to the school to assist it in rebuilding after a building was destroyed by a fire in 2018.

According to Wong, the school received RM1 million in 2018 from the government, RM500,000 last year and another RM500,000 two weeks ago.

“My reply to ex-YB Alice Lau is that if she thinks SUPP has not given RM400,000 to the school, then she should have fought for the money when she was in the position to do so. Sadly, she did not do so,” he said.

Wong also questioned what role Lau has played as the then ‘wakil rakyat’ of Lanang to help SJK Kiew Nang. — DayakDaily
