BAU, Nov 10: The tender to construct a new building for SK Serembu will issued next year, says Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.

He said the project has been listed under the third phase of the RM1 billion repayment to the federal government.

Without disclosing the allocation sum, Annuar said the funding for the project from the federal government was already available.

“For SK Serembu, it will have a new building with 12 classrooms, administrative block and a science room where the tender will be issued next year and expected to be completed within two years.

“The money is already there, but I can’t tell you the amount as the tender will only be issued next year,” Dr Annuar told reporters today during his working visit to the school.

On top of the project, the deputy minister revealed that a temporary block with six classrooms will be built behind the school to accommodate some of the pupils.

According to him, RM400,000 had been allocated for the temporary block and work will commence in January next year.

The school was built in 1958 and currently has 265 pupils and 21 teaching staff.

Among those present during the visit were Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh, Kuching Resident Datu Sherrina Hussaini, Bau district officer Anielia Siam and Gabungan Parti Sarawak-Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (GPS-PBB) candidate for P198 Puncak Borneo Datuk Willie Mongin. — DayakDaily
