KUCHING, Jan 26: The State Health Department has today urged individuals who have travelled to Covid-19 high-risk areas such as Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu, Kanowit, Dalat, Miri, Beluru and Sebauh in the past two weeks to get tested at the nearest health clinic or private hospital.
State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing, in a statement today, emphasised that individuals who had travelled to the high-risk areas either to visit family, friends or attend any kind of events such as wedding or funeral should undergo swab tests for Covid-19 at the nearest healthcare facilities.
He also strongly advised these individuals with travel history who have risk factors associated with Covid-19 especially not feeling well or have symptoms like cough, fever, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, body fatigue to get tested immediately.
“Those who have been visited by friends or relatives who have travel history to the high-risk areas in the past two week (have social or close contacts) and who are feeling unwell and showing the above symptoms should get tested as well,” he called on.
Dr Chin made this call as many positive cases had been detected in longhouses.
“Longhouse residents who are experiencing symptoms should also go to the nearest clinic to get treatment and swab test for Covid-19,” he added. — DayakDaily
