KUCHING, Jan 31: Four segments of the Pan Borneo Highway have been affected by flooding but remain passable for vehicles, Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi says.

In a news report by TVS, the Minister said that these segments are the Package 03 route from Serian to Sri Aman, the Selangau Section, the P-turn at kilometre KM818 at the Bakun Junction, and Package 11 at the Pujut Section near the Eastwood Golf & Country Club at KM938-940.

“These are the four locations, the worst is here (Package 03 from Serian to Sri Aman) due to overflow from the nearby river.

“However, there is no need to close these roads because they are still passable for vehicles, and the safety and comfort of road users are guaranteed as there are officers monitoring the location,” he was reported as saying to reporters after inspecting the situation on the Pan Borneo Highway near Serian today.

Nanta also expressed his appreciation to the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) for their swift action in constructing alternative routes for areas affected by landslides.

Yesterday, the Song/Sipan-Temalat Road was closed to all vehicles due to a landslide which cut off access from Kanowit to Song.

TVS reported that the road closed temporarily to allow the construction of an alternative route for light vehicles. However, heavy vehicles are still not allowed to pass through that road due to the unstable and unsafe soil structure at the location. – DayakDaily
