SABERKAS spreads Ramadan joy with bubur lambuk programme at 61 locations in S’wak

KUCHING, March 9: In the spirit of Ramadan, the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) hopes to contribute to the festivities through its ‘Jerayawara Bubur Lambuk’ programme.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report on March 8, the programme aims to strengthen the spirit of charity, cooperation, and unity among the community.

SABERKAS president Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this year, 61 locations in the State were identified to implement the programme, starting with Lundu, which saw the distribution of about 500 packs of bubur lambuk.

“SABERKAS has allocated RM1,500 to each branch, which is an increase from the RM1,000 allocated in previous years.

“Overall, RM91,500 has been allocated for 61 locations Statewide,” he said in his speech during the launching ceremony of the programme in Lundu on March 8.

Abdul Karim, who is also the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak and Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, said other than the bubur lambuk programme, SABERKAS is also continuing its efforts in the ‘SABERKAS Prihatin’ programme.

“In January this year, SABERKAS aided flood victims in Miri and Bintulu. To date, 34 branches have requested to implement the programme in their respective areas with RM410,000 in funds to help those in need,” he said.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, Tanjong Datu assemblyman cum SABERKAS Tanjong Datu chairman Datu Azizul Annuar Adenan, SABERKAS secretary-general Safiee Ahmad, political secretary to the Sarawak Premier Abang Abdul Aziz Abang Draup, and Lundu District Council chairman Awang Yusup Awang Mostapha were also present. — DayakDaily
