Fatimah: Sarawak Day declaration a much-needed turning point for Sarawakians

KUCHING, July 22: The declaration of Sarawak Day has given important political, administrative and social impact to the people of Sarawak.

According to Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, the announcement of Sarawak Day has made the people of Sarawak aware of the significance of Sarawak as a political entity that can unite the entire population of multiple races, tribes, cultures, religions and languages.


“Similarly, Sarawak Day also raises awareness among the younger generation about the sacrifices and great contributions of the previous Sarawak figures and leaders who are invaluable,” said Fatimah during her speech during Sarawak Day Celebration 2022 held at the Sibu Indoor Stadium today.

Fatimah pointed out that the theme ‘Sarawak Makmur’ for this year’s Sarawak Day celebration also depicted the level and tempo of Sarawak’s development which continues to move briskly in all corners of the country, including urban, rural, inland, coastal, flat and highland areas.

She said this momentum is clearly a continuous efforts started by Datuk Stephen Kalong Ningkan, Datuk Penghulu Tawi Sli, Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud followed by the late Tok Nan and now Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari.

She added that the development of information and infrastructure built to boost the quality of communication and communication in order to improve the quality of life of the people in rural areas, is always balanced with human resource development programs through the establishment of international institutions of higher learning and secondary schools.

“As citizens who expect comprehensive, integrated and sustainable development and prosperity, the support and cooperation of all stakeholders is very important to guarantee political stability, socio-cultural harmony, and the sustainability of aspirations for the dignified people of Sarawak,” she added. — DayakDaily
