Fatimah reveals ministry’s plans to build complex to house JKM and agencies in Tatau

KUCHING, Jan 31: The Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing plans to build a government complex to house the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and other agencies in Tatau district.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, its Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the matter will be discuss with Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai.

“We will forward an application to the Sarawak government to build a complex like the one in that was built in Dalat.


“It will houses a Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre (PPDK) as well as Senior Citizens Service Centres (PPWE).

“With it, longhouse residents in Tatau will no longer have to go to Bintulu for transactions with the departments, and this would also benefit the local population,” said Fatimah during an official visit to PPDK Sinaran Kasih in Tatau on Saturday (Jan 29).

Meanwhile, Fatimah said her ministry has presented a paper to the Sarawak Cabinet applying to absorb the existing health therapists who are working in the Malaysia Health Department to provide their services to PPDKs.

She also said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has approved the application during a meeting on Thursday (Jan 27), and for those absorbed, their work scheme will be changed from Contract for Service to Contribution-Based Positions (‘Jawatan Berasaskan Caruman’).

To date, a total of 13 health therapists are working in PPDKs and with an additional 10 new recruits, it brings the total number of health therapists to 23 people. — DayakDaily
