MIRI, JAN 31: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) landslide victory in the Telang Usan constituency during the 12th Sarawak Election reflects the people’s trust in the coalition.

Its assemblyman Dennis Ngau said GPS had proven itself as a party that delivers and fulfils promises made to the people.

“We have an excellent track record, unlike those from the Opposition,” he pointed out.

He spoke at an appreciation dinner gathering held on Sunday night at a leading hotel.

More than 200 GPS election machinery and supporters were present, including political secretary to the chief minister Charles Balan Seling and Kayan paramount chief Temenggong Elizabeth Ding.

Dennis attributed his victory to his constituents and the support from the party’s election machinery.

“It’s a collective effort from all of us which made the victory possible,” he said.

He also called on Telang Usan constituents to support Baram MP Anyi Ngau in the 15th General Election (PRU 15) due this year to ensure that the constituency is always on the government’s development radar.

In the 12th Sarawak Election, Dennis retained his seat with a majority of 2,422 votes.

He polled 3,861 votes in a four-cornered fight against Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s (PSB) Jau Jok @ Jenggo who secured 1,439 votes, Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) Philip Jau with 1,093 votes, and Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s (PBK) Gia Bala with 68 votes.

In the 11th Sarawak Election in 2016, Dennis won the seat with a narrow majority of 167 votes. — DayakDaily
