KUCHING, Oct 22: A 19-year-old teenager lost his life following a drowning incident that occurred around 7.59pm yesterday (Oct 21) at a condominium swimming pool near BDC Stampin here.
According to Kuching District police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah in a statement, the Kuching IPD control centre received an emergency call from the Kuching MERS 999 Response Centre reporting that two individuals had drowned while swimming.
Emergency responders were able to rescue one victim, while the other was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by medical personnel at the scene.
Both victims were transported by ambulances from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the Fire and Rescue Department to SGH for further treatment.
While one victim was successfully stabilised and treated in the yellow zone of the hospital, the 19-year-old male succumbed to his injuries in the red zone at approximately 9.30pm.
The case is currently being investigated as a sudden death.

He also advised the community to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures while engaging in water activities, especially in swimming pools. — DayakDaily
