Enhanced SOPs for Bintulu, Tatau, Sebauh: 2 persons in car, business operating hours limited to 6am to 8pm

BINTULU, April 14: Inter-district travel and movement in Bintulu, Sebauh and Tatau will no longer be allowed, except for those working in essential services, in the case of emergencies and transit with the approval of the Health Office and a police permit.

The authorities have extended the temporarily enhanced Covid-19 restrictions in the three districts under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period from today until April 27 due to high infection rates recently.


Under the enhanced standard operating procedures (SOP), the number of passengers in a private vehicle for Bintulu division is limited to two persons, except for vehicles from outside of Bintulu division which will be based on the capacity of the vehicle in which rT-PCR Covid-19 test result and police permit are required.

As for the economic sectors allowed to operate as determined by Bintulu Division Disaster Management Committee (Bintulu DDMC), the business hours have been readjusted from 6am to 8pm.

Shopping malls, supermarkets, departmental stores, retail stores, grocery stores and variety stores can operate without exceeding 50 per cent premise capacity or a maximum of 50 people.

Food and beverage related businesses including restaurants, food stalls, food courts, hawker centres and roadside stalls are not allowed to operate for dine-in services but for take-away, drive-thru and delivery only.

Other services allowed within the operating hours include petrol stations, laundrettes and other outlets offering daily essentials as well as fishery, agriculture, farming, livestock and industry related to food chain supply.

Farmer markets and night markets in red zone areas are not allowed to operate.

Government and private hospitals and clinics can operate for 24 hours while pharmacies and stores selling medications can open from 6am until 10pm except for pharmacies in shopping malls.

Airports, ports as well as public transportations such as public bus, express bus, ferry, airline, taxi and e-hailing are allowed to operate according to their schedules.

All sectors and the public must continue to comply with the various SOPs in place especially physical distancing of at least one metre, wearing of face masks in public places, taking body temperature, checking in using the MySejahtera app or manual recording, limit number of visitors and avoid crowding in any spaces.

Business events such as meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions as well as seminars, workshops, training courses and social events such as wedding, engagement, reception, birthday, anniversary, thanksgiving, reunion, retreat, family day, corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and other related activities are now allowed at this time.

Official events by the government and private sector are not allowed in red zone areas, while other zones are allowed to have 50 per cent premise capacity or a maximum of 100 people in attendance only.

Other activities not permitted to be held during this CMCO period include all activities under the creative industry related to filming, concert and music, organisation of games, tournaments and competitions, tourism and culture related events, sports activities such as fun run, fun ride, marathon and triathlon, recreational activities in Tanjung Batu beach, Tumbina Park, ABF beach and Millennium Park or any activities that would attract and gather a large number of people until physical distancing cannot be observed. — DayakDaily
