KUCHING, Nov 12: Eight Penghulu and Pemanca in Tamin have denied allegations of supporting Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate Umpang Sabang.

Pemanca Matthew Ganggang, Penghulu Andrewson Ngalai, Penghulu Bansa Kunchau, Penghulu Surang Takin, Penghulu Julia Awal, Penghulu Anjat Beti, Penghulu Christopher Chat, and Penghulu Thomas Jawa, in a joint statement today said Umpang made the claim during his campaigning session held at Rh Rantai Anak Ugak in Sekuau on Nov 11.

“We are also disappointed that the PKR candidate involved them in his political campaign which is an irresponsible act and a lie.

“We hereby call on this candidate to stop making misleading statements and using community leaders’ names,” they said.

According to them, the PKR candidate’s statement and campaign shows that he has no vision or plan to develop Selangau.

Apart from that, they also pointed out that his statement only serves to confuse the people and voters by using the names of Pemancas and Penghulus in Tamin.

“We also condemn his statement claiming that Christopher Gira Sambang, supports the community leader from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) which can threaten the harmony of PRS members in Tamin, including confusing party members and voters with cheap political plays,” they said. — DayakDaily
