Dudong rep to advocate for more community leaders in Sibu Jaya amid population increase

KUCHING, April 15: Dudong assemblyman Dato Sri Tiong King Sing has urged the Sibu District Office to appoint additional community leaders to better represent the growing Sibu Jaya community.

Tiong, who also serves as the federal Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) Minister, expressed his awareness of the local infrastructure challenges and the effects of the growing population.

“In addition to reviewing local infrastructure issues, I was informed that population growth in the area is on the rise, and it is time to consider increasing the number of community leaders to better serve the people.

“I will discuss this matter with the Sibu District Office and request that they schedule a meeting with local residents as soon as possible to gather more information so that appropriate action can be taken,” he said in a statement on his Facebook page.

The minister made the statement following after visiting several villages in Sibu Jaya yesterday (April 14) in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Yesterday, Tiong visited the homes of Pemanca Sharifah Ainie Sayeed Alwi and imam Ibrahim Osman as part of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. — DayakDaily
