KUCHING, July 15: Deputy Premier-cum-Batu Kawah assemblyman Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian has injected a total of RM363,226,141 worth of development grants into his constituency from 2016 to 2022.
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) N14 Batu Kawah Service Center, in a statement today, said the grants were used to implement various development projects and people-centric policies.
Some of them include the Batu Kawa Waterfront park, the upgrading of gravel roads to tar sealed roads, street lighting installation, the upgrading of Taman Desa Wira and drainage system for low cost housing areas.
“This includes beautifying of Ang Cheng Ho quarry, leisure park, providing agricultural aids, house repair, electricity supply for rural area, improving water supply, improving the traffic system and CCTV (closed-circuit television) installation.
“Besides the development plan, he (Dr Sim) has also given out annual grant allocation to schools, temples, churches, mosques, neighborhood committee, associations and community association in his constituency,” it said.
According to the service center, Dr Sim has also promoted and implemented various Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects in Batu Kawa.
For this year, the RM5 million annual development grant will be used to implement 16 development projects across Batu Kawa, and 12 of them will be drainage upgrading projects.
“The drainage upgrade projects are for Batu Kawa road Lorong 1C, Stephen Yong road Lorong 4, Stapok Utama Lorong 3, Ketitir road Lorong 1B3, Taman Desa Wira Lorong 15A, RPR Batu Kawa Lorong 2/3/5, low-cost housing 28A6/28A6A/28A6D/24A1A/24A1B/Lorong 28 and 26’s backyard drainage.
“As for the road, Kampung Sina Budi Lama and low-cost housing mosque area road will be upgraded. Community hall at Taman Desa Wira lorong 10A and Batu Kawa Rehabilitation Center will also be upgraded,” it added. – DayakDaily
