KUCHING, Aug 3: Being fully vaccinated does not equate being ‘bulletproof’ against Covid-19 but it will reduce the risk of hospitalisation and death from the deadly illness.

This warning came from Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian in a social post yesterday. He cautioned that even after receiving two vaccine doses, an individual can still get Covid-19, and even worse, the individual may go on to spread the virus to others.

Dr Sim said that “we will need to ‘live with (the) virus’ and everyone will have to play their parts to minimise the transmission of the virus.

Meanwhile, in the same post, Dr Sim also disclosed details of Covid-19 infections in Kuching, Samarahan and Serian districts.

Out of the 144 cases reported in Kuching yesterday, 37 were fully vaccinated individuals while 35 were vaccinated with one dose.

Dr Sim who is also the Local Government and Housing Minister also listed locations with more than three Covid-19 cases in the three districts.
