KUCHING, Aug 3: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan branch is urging Sarawakian voters to vote out the candidates from Malayan parties during the coming 12th State Election (PRN12) so that street protests will not take plae in Sarawak.

As members of the federal opposition lawmakers staged a protest at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur yesterday over the closure of Parliament, SUPP Stakan branch chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok believed the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership should prove their strength in Parliament rather than protesting on the street.

He opined that protesting on the street was not the wise thing to do at the present time in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, adding that they have set bad examples to their supporters and Malaysian citizens.

“As Sarawakians, we are certain as many are also shocked to see a YB and former federal minister also standing in tandem with all his former Malayan masters there with no regard to what his example set will lead to.

“We plead with these people to seize and desist for just a few more weeks so that the country can heal and let our vaccination plan be carried out without any distractions.

“While our focus has always been Sarawak First but if Malaya fails we fail too, if Malaya dies we die too because we are all connected as Malaysian,” he said in a statement.

Apart from that, Sim said SUPP Stakan Branch also hoped that the police will investigate and charge those who participated in the protest based on several reports being made against them.

He added the political party will also be writing to the Sarawak Immigration Department to take note of those individuals, so as to stop them from coming to Sarawak to further their agendas and protect Sarawakians from their unsavoury politics. — DayakDaily
