KUCHING, Mar 21: The Pan Borneo Highway project is encountering delays near Sibuti due to ongoing pipe relocation works, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

According to him, progress in that section has been slow as construction cannot proceed until the new pipes are installed.

“That’s why things are moving quite slowly. The expected completion is now in 2026,” said Fadillah when met by reporters after the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development’s (KKDW) Majlis Santunan Kasih Ramadan at Kampung Empila Darul Sabirin mosque today.

He mentioned that another section of the highway is nearing completion, but the current focus is on three key projects under the leadership of Public Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi—the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) phases one, two, and three, the Trans Borneo Highway, and the upgrading of older roads along the route.

“Once (the roads are) completed, we’ll (Sarawak) have good roads,” he said. –DayakDaily
