Compounds for breaking SOP on the rise to 58 as 29 breach curfew

KUCHING, June 13: As the number of compounds issued to standard operating procedure (SOP) flouters increased to 58 today, 29 of them were caught by police for breaching the curfew.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, one angler who was fishing in public area was also fined as outdoor recreational activities are prohibited during Movement Control Order (MCO).


Other SOP offences registered for the day included not wearing face masks (8), traveling cross districts without permits (8), vehicles carrying passengers exceeding limit (4), individuals not registering through MySejahtera (4), failing to observe social distancing (3) and leaving area under Enhanced MCO (EMCO) without permission (1).

Of the 58 compounds issued by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), 20 were in Kuching, 13 in Bintulu, Lubok Antu (7), Miri (6), Sarikei (6), Kapit (2), Sibu (2), Padawan (1) and Mukah (1).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing also issued 13 compounds under the supervision of the Kota Samarahan District Council (6), Meradong and Julau District Council (3), Bintulu Development Authority (2), Serian District Council (1), Matu and Daro District Council (1).

The violations involved businesses operating without permits (3), having incomplete patron registration books (1) and not preparing a thermometer (1), customers not registering before entering premises (3), individuals crossing districts without permits (3) and not wearing face masks (2). — DayakDaily
