KUCHING, March 22: After a long and tireless process of resolving a years-long issue, house owners in Taman Kalien Phase 4 can finally breathe a sigh of relief as their long-awaited individual land titles have been issued.
Kota Sentosa Rep Wilfred Yap and Premier Political Secretary Kho Teck Wan were at a legal firm to witness the signing of Memorandum of Transfer (MOT) by purchasers of Phase 4 Taman Kalien after the individual land titles was issued by Land & Survey Department.
All 36 house owners of Taman Kalien phase 4 will be notified by the legal firm to sign the MOT starting next week and once the MOT is signed and stamp duty paid, the land title will be held at the bank until the mortgage is fully paid off.
“The developer had worked out a plan with Land and Survey Sarawak to pay the premium of land titles for Taman Kalien phase 4 first. (The) payment process of land title for Phase 5 will start next then follow by phase 6, 2 and finally 3.
“This sequence of processing land titles is set up as such to allow adequate cash flow for the developer so all land titles for Taman Kalien can be paid and released,” Kho said in a statement.
Kho further commended Miss Yong, the developer who inherited the Taman Kalien land title issue after the passing of her father, for her courage in taking up the massive financial responsibility left by her late father.
She highlighted that her persistence in pursuing the land title approval at Land and Survey proved her sincerity and commitment to Taman Kalien’s house owners.
“I therefore urge the house owners of other phases to be patience as the developer work through the land title payments with the Land and Survey Department Sarawak,” she said.
Kho also noted that SUPP will continue to coordinate with the developer and Land and Survey Sarawak for the issuance of the individual land titles for phase 5, 6, 2 and 3 of Taman Kalien.
House owners in Taman Kalien had been waiting for their individual land titles, which had not been issued to them for over two decades.
In late 2023, Chong Chien Jen (Stampin MP and Padungan ADUN) and his assistant Micheal Kong publicly criticised Deputy Minister YB Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and his ministry for failing to assist residents in obtaining their land titles.
Despite land title issue was not under the purview of Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Kho was tasked with assisting all Taman Kalien house owners.
With assistance from Yap, Kho approached the developer (Miss Yong) and Land and Survey Sarawak to expedite the issuance of land titles. – DayakDaily
