KUCHING, June 17: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has called on ten PBB powerhouses to deliver the promises made in GPS’ manifesto during the last Sarawak election.

Among the ten, six are ministers in the Sarawak Cabinet, namely Deputy Premier cum Minister of International Trade and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan; Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, Performing Arts, Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi; Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah and Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

The other four who were named included Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Nasar as well as ministers in the Federal Cabinet namely Senior Works Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi and Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Nancy Shukri.

“I’m sure Datuk Amar Awang Tengah will continue to issue land titles to NCR (Native Customary Rights) land owners. To Abdul Karim, please help our youth.

“Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi, in agriculture, we have to make sure all the projects are implemented. Datuk Roland Sagah, repair our dilapidated schools.

“Fadillah, please bring more money from Kuala Lumpur to help us build Sarawak. You are a very senior minister. Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, don’t increase the price of chicken, and give more franchises to the youth and women in Sarawak,” said Uggah.

He also urged Fatimah to consider providing more welfare assistance to the elderly especially those in the rural areas.

To Asfia, Uggah begged for good care of the State Council, and to Nancy, Uggah hoped she could channel more funds for tourism development in Sarawak.

“As for YB Julaihi, settle the water issue in Miri. But the biggest challenge, is to make sure that all the rural towers ‘ada kuali’ (have satellite dishes). ‘Tiang ada, kuali tak ada’ (There are telecommunication towers, but no satellite dishes),” he added.

Not forgetting himself, Uggah, who is also Sarawak Deputy Premier cum Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, said he would need to immediately recover the ‘sick’ projects in his ministry.

“My ministry has a lot of sick projects, so I’ve got to buy Panadol to cure them, so that they do not develop into future troubles,” he said.

All these, he emphasised, is to ensure that the promises GPS made during the 12th Sarawak State Election (PRN12) last December are fulfilled.

He said this is vital for GPS including PBB itself to secure another big win in the coming 15th General Election (GE15).

“We (GPS) have won the State election. Now we should be prepared to face the general election. Let us prepare, be ready, and make sure we win all 31 seats that we are contesting.

“What should we do to be ready? For GPS government under the leadership of our YAB Premier, we must deliver what we promised in the manifesto. We must carry out the promised projects,” he said when officiating at the PBB Women and Youth Wings general assembly at BCCK here today.

Among other dignitaries also present were PBB deputy president Awang Tengah, PBB senior vice presidents Fadillah and Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong, PBB permanent chairman Asfia, PBB secretary-general Nanta, PBB Women chief Fatimah, and PBB Youth chief Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu. — DayakDaily
