Serian, Sri Aman see API rise above 200 as air quality worsens as of 4pm (Aug 29)

KUCHING, Aug 29: Serian has once again recorded a ‘very unhealthy’ Air Pollution Index (API) reading of 228, joining Sri Aman, which recorded 229 as of 4pm today.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), most areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy API readings, with Sarikei at 194 and followed by Samarahan (185), Kuching (180), Mukah (171), Sibu (166), Bintulu and Kapit (156 each), and Samalaju (149).

Meanwhile, only three areas recorded moderate readings—ILP Miri (77), Miri (76), and Limbang (56).

All areas recorded an increase from today’s 10am readings.

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are hazardous. — DayakDaily
