KUCHING, Sept 6: Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah labelled promises offered by aspiring state election opposition candidates as empty, as what they mentioned has already been implemented by the present state government.
He asserted that most of the offers made, especially when the opposition is making rounds with election gimmicks to fish for votes, are old and stale, and the local folks are able to discern such practices.
“They (opposition) are now running out of ideas on how to get the support from local folks and the same old issues are being brought up including those on petty matters which do not make sense at all,” he highlighted in a press statement today.
Abdul Karim, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president, and the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, emphasised that the state government has been consistent in fulfilling its promises to Asajaya residents as well as residents in other parts of Sarawak as well, with ample proof to quash any allegations that had been played up by the opposition.
“They (opposition) are oblivious to what we (state government) have already done for the people and not forgetting the billions (in ringgit) of relief assistance that were given to our people during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Why are they not mentioning this to our rural folks who have also benefited from the various relief assistance under the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sarawak (BKSS)?” he asked.
At the same time, Abdul Karim also expressed his confidence that the people of Sarawak, especially in Asajaya will not easily be deceived by claims from the opposition party representatives which he deemed as baseless. — DayakDaily
