4WD vehicle plunges into ravine in Sibu

SIBU, Feb 14: Three people were injured in a self-inflicted driving accident involving a four-wheel drive vehicle (4WD) at Jalan Batu 6 here yesterday (Feb 12).

A spokesperson for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said they received a report regarding the incident at 8.04pm before deploying a team of firefighters from Sungai Merah Fire Station (BBP) to the scene.

“Upon arrival at the scene, we found that a 4WD vehicle had been involved in a self-inflicted accident and fell into a ravine approximately 15 feet high from the road.


“The three victims are all male adults. One victim was still stuck in the vehicle while the other two victims had managed to escape before Bomba personnel arrived,” he said in a statement.

The operation team reportedly used special equipment to extricate the victim from the vehicle, which was in an upside-down position.

“After the trapped victim was successfully extricated, the operation team lifted the victim using a stretcher and was then given initial treatment by the EMRS team,” he said.

All victims were then sent to the hospital for further treatment and action. — DayakDaily
