KUCHING, April 20: A multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was totally destroyed by a fire at the traffic light intersection of Mile 3, causing a spectacle for motorists earlier today.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre received a report and promptly dispatched personnel from Bomba Batu Lintang after a call was made regarding the incident at 9.03am by the Malaysia Emergency Rescue Services (EMRS) 999.
The operation commander reported that the incident involve a Toyota Vellfire which had caught fire and was almost completely destroyed.
The driver of the vehicle, identified by the authorities as a 47-year old man, was not at the scene and was reportedly unharmed.
Firefighters then proceeded with an overhaul operation after successfully putting out the flame to ensure no remnants remained for reignition.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. — DayakDaily
