KUCHING, Feb 26: The State Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPN) has successfully reviewed and improved the quality of 381 investigation papers of years 2019-2021 by other State government departments or agencies.

Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion expressed satisfaction with the Police Training Centre’s performance under UKPN which has so far achieved a 100 per cent success rate in cases brought to court.

He said this during the closing ceremony of the Basic Investigation Course No 1/2022 at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex yesterday (Feb 25).

The course was attended by 34 UKPN officers and four investigating officers from other departments and agencies namely the Forest Department, Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), Sarawak Veterinary Services Department (DVSS) and Miri City Council (MCC).

The three-week Basic Investigation Course from Feb 7 to 25 is the second course conducted by the Royal Malaysia Police College Cheras, following the first one in 2018 attended by 49 UKPN officers.

“This course is one of the State government’s efforts towards producing efficient investigating officers with integrity to produce quality investigation papers.

“To meet these efforts, civil servants need to equip themselves with various disciplines of knowledge, relevant skills and advanced investigative practices that cover both the corpus of knowledge, namely explicit and tacit,” said Jaul Samion in a statement today.

Explicit knowledge is knowledge that can be learned formally from various learning institutions while tacit Knowledge is obtained through the experience and skills of lecturers and mentors, he explained. — DayakDaily
