LAWAS, Oct 18: Three children, who are students from SK Agama, are in critical condition after being rescued from a car that plunged into a river near Jalan Awat-Awat.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Lawas reported that the children were transported from Sundar Clinic to Lawas Hospital for further medical attention.
The incident, which occurred around 1.15pm today, involved a Perodua Alza carrying 10 passengers, including eight SK Agama students and a five-year-old child of the 38-year-old driver.
Six of the passengers managed to escape to safety after the driver managed to open the car’s boot door.
Members of the public rescued the three children trapped inside and rushed them to Sundar Clinic.
Earlier, photos from the scene showed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) being performed on two of the children, who had nearly drowned.
Firefighters conducted a thorough search of the river to ensure no additional victims were present before concluding the operation at 2.50pm. — DayakDaily
