3 GPS assemblymen absent on first day of DUN due to Covid-19 quarantine

KUCHING, Feb 14: Kuala Rajang assemblyman Datu Len Talif Salleh and Repok assemblymen Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii will sit out on the ongoing three-day Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting convened from Feb 14 to 16 as they are being quarantined.

According to DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar, the absence of leave for the three Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) lawmakers was granted under Standing Order 81.

He said the absence of leave was granted for the duo for the whole duration of this DUN.

Both Len and Huang when contacted, confirmed that they have been tested positive for Covid-19.

Len who is also Natural Resources and Urban Development Assistant Minister suffers Covid-19 mild symptoms and will be out of quarantine by this Sunday.

The quarantine for Huang who does no exhibit any symptoms will also end soon.

Meanwhile, Piasau rep Datuk Sebastian Ting is under quarantine for being a close contact to a Covid-19 case.

Ting who is also Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Assistant Minister however, will only be absent for today and tomorrow.

“Presently I am under five-day quarantine because I was in close contact with a person who was tested Covid-19 positive.

“I did a PCR test on Feb 11 and the result was negative.  I just did another PCR test this morning and if negative then I will be able to attend the last day of DUN session on Feb 16,” said Ting in a WhatsApp statement.— DayakDaily
