2 Indonesian construction workers killed in Kota Samarahan after concrete drain collapses on them

KUCHING, May 9: Two Indonesian construction workers were killed after a concrete drain collapsed in Kota Samarahan yesterday.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) operations centre today, they received a call regarding the incident at 11.25pm last night and deployed Bomba Kota Samarahan to the location.

The operation commander reported that the incident occurred at a construction site in Lorong Samarindah 14B, where the two victims were crushed by the 5-foot-high concrete drain wall.

Firefighters proceeded with a rescue operation with the help of construction workers using the company’s excavator.

After successfully extracting the victims from the rubble, both were confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and their bodies were later handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
