KUCHING, April 21: A man was killed while another was injured in a single-vehicle crash involving a Toyota Hilux at Batu 11, Jalan KJD Julau-Bintangor this afternoon.
According to a report by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Ricky Walter, who was the driver of the vehicle.
He was found unconscious and trapped in the driver’s seat when firefighters from Bintangor Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Bintangor) arrived at the scene at 3.52pm.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the incident was reported at 3.20pm, and rescuers travelled approximately 59km to the crash site.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the vehicle had overturned in a self-accident.
The front passenger—an unidentified male adult—had been rescued earlier by members of the public and sent to Julau Health Clinic for treatment.
Bintangor station operation commander Herman Basa said rescue personnel used special tools to extricate the driver who was pinned inside the wreckage.
Medical personnel at the scene later confirmed that Ricky had died from his injuries. His body was handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
