KUCHING, Aug 18: An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he was dragged by a lorry in a three-vehicle accident along Jalan Canna here on Monday afternoon.
Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred at about 12.25pm on Aug 17.
Preliminary investigations found that the motorcycle, which was travelling from the direction of the Jalan Stutong Baru traffic light junction, lost control before colliding with the Perodua Bezza.
“The rider then fell onto the road and was dragged by an HCC lorry that was travelling straight in the right lane.
“The local male rider sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
Alexson said the drivers of the Perodua Bezza and the lorry were not injured in the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the accident or have information related to the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
