18 CCTV units installed in selected MPP areas to improve community safety

KUCHING, Dec 10: A total of 18 closed-circuit television (CCTV) units has been installed by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) at selected location under its jurisdiction to improve community safety.

MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang revealed the council started installing the CCTVs since two years ago, namely at Arang Road, Kum Phin Road, Jalan Dogan roundabout, Jalan Burung Lilin and 3rd Mile area, as well as at SJK Chung Hua 4 1/2 mile area, with the cost of RM600,000.

“I am going to increase the numbers of cameras in order to improve the security in the areas involved.


“I have also talked to Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) about these efforts, and what I am doing will be eventually assimilated into SMA’s bigger picture, which is to install CCTVs throughout Sarawak under the Chief Minister’s security programme for the whole State,” he told reporters when visiting one of the CCTV installation sites at Batu Kawa Police Station, today.

He added this is just a start, and more CCTVs will be install in the future to benefit the people.
