SEBANGAN, Feb 28: A total of 132 children aged 5 to 11 received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines through the National Covid-19 Adolescent Immunisation Programme for Kids (PICKids) at Sebangan Health Clinic last Friday (Feb 25).
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, these children were from SK Sg Lumut (27 students), SK Tungkah Dayak (29 students), SJK Chung Hua Sebangan (28 students), SK Bajong (25 students) and SK Entangor (23 students). They received the Comirnaty-type vaccine (Pfizer BioNTech).
The clinic’s Medical Superintendent, Dr Nurul Huda, said the vaccination programme was held to make it easier for nearby school children to receive the Covid-19 vaccine to protect them from the risk of infection.
She further said that the clinic’s health staff would also visit schools far from the clinic to ensure that no one is exempted from being vaccinated and at the same time achieve the target of the Ministry of Health (MOH) for PICKids in the area.
A survey by Ukas found that the entire vaccination process on the day went smoothly without any problems, and parents or guardians accompanied all students by complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs). – DayakDaily
