KUCHING, July 8: Ten-year-old Sarawakian singer Taylor Louise has won a gold medal in the Open Category for ages 8 to 10 at the 2024 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in the USA.

The Kuching native was also awarded the 2024 WCOPA Junior Division Champion for the Open Category.

She performed a song titled ‘What Was I Made For?’ by Billie Eilish during the competition held in Long Beach, California.

Being the youngest vocal contestant in the Malaysian contingent, Taylor contributed one gold medal out of 13 and one Division champion out of 11.

In a Facebook post yesterday (July 7), Taylor expressed her gratitude for her victory, thanking her parents, family, coach and friends for their love and support during her preparation for the competition.

“I am speechless and thankful to God for His love and guidance. Guys, I really won a gold medal for Sarawak and Malaysia. Yay!

“This is amazing news for me, and it will motivate me to do better next time. I have learnt so much, and I know I have so much room to improve in terms of my vocals and performance on stage.

“What a wonderful day of my life as the youngest Malaysia team’s vocal contestant aged ten years old Kuching girl who loves singing and eats wanton,” she wrote. — DayakDaily
