KUCHING, Oct 14: A 50-year-old man was found dead after being reported missing in Reservoir Park yesterday.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre today, the victim, Kamarau Adong, was found unconscious inside a bush about two metres from the roadside.

“The victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and was later handed over to the police for further action,” it said.

Based on Bomba chronology, they received a call from Kuching central police station on Oct 13 informing them about the missing victim and firefighters from Bomba Padungan were deployed to the location.

The report stated that the victim’s wife said that the victim went to the park’s forest area at 7am in search of bamboo shoots, and she noticed that he did not return.

Worried about her husband’s whereabouts, she made a police report on the same day, which prompted a search and rescue (SAR) operation covering three sections of the park, which ended without the victim being found.

The second day of the SAR started at 8.26am today, which saw the involvement of firefighters, the Civil Defense Force (APM), and the police K9 unit.

The deceased was found at 10.30am by the police drone unit. — DayakDaily
