Youth and women empowerment tops PKR’s Cherishe Ng manifesto for N11 Batu Lintang

KUCHING, Dec 13: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate Cherishe Ng Phuay Hui for N11 Batu Lintang unveiled her 10-point campaign manifesto for the 12th Sarawak Election today.

The Sarawak PKR Women secretary said if elected, she wants to encourage youths to create new policies and promote new ideas by cultivating young leaders for a better and brighter future for Sarawakians.


Speaking at a press conference held at the PKR Kuching office here today, the 24-year-old Ng revealed that at the top of her manifesto is strengthening women and youth representation in terms of politics and leadership.

Second on the list is to resolve flood issues by facilitating flood mitigation plans and funds while the third is to ensure the underprivileged are protected by the National Health Care Plan (MySalam) and the National Health Checkup Plan (PeKa B40).

The fourth on the list is to promote political reforms by supporting legislative amendments to enact anti-party hopping laws to ensure political stability in Sarawak, and encourage equal allocations for ruling and opposition parties.

Her manifesto also included helping the low income groups by providing food aid programmes and welfare assistance to low-income families.

The sixth item on Ng’s manifesto focuses on women’s agenda which involves legislation of a women’s policy agenda to increase women participation in various sectors while the seventh item gives focus to issues of local infrastructure and solving people’s problems.

Eighth is to safeguard and maintain Sarawak’s cultural, ethnic and religious diversity and to strive for institutionalised funding for all cultural and religious bodies.

Meanwhile, the ninth point of her manifesto is the inclusion of English and Chinese languages as the second and third national languages for competitiveness and better connectivity with the outside world in the digital era of today.

Last but not least, Ng wishes to fight and conquer the Covid-19 pandemic in unison with Sarawakians, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all. — DayakDaily
