KUCHING, Oct 8: Yayasan OBYU presented donations totalling RM1.425 million to benefit local communities across Sarawak through construction of a mosque, multi-purpose hall and longhouse.
The donations were presented by Yayasan OBYU’s Board of Trustees chairman Datuk Dr Hatta Solhee in Kuching yesterday.
Present in the donation handover ceremony was Sarawak Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.
Fatimah also represented Kampung Sungai Sut Tengah community in Dalat which is building Masjid Al-Fateh for 600 worshippers. It received RM500,000 from Yayasan OBYU.
The community at Kampung Usahajaya in Sibu received a boost of RM725,660 from Yayasan OBYU towards construction of a new multi-purpose hall which will be used for wedding receptions, sports activities and evacuation centre.
Yayasan OBYU also contributed RM200,000 towards construction of an 11-door longhouse at Nanga Siding in Sungai Poi, Kanowit.

Yayasan OBYU is a non-profit organisation established to implement corporate responsibility and philanthropic initiatives.
Since 2018, Yayasan OBYU has contributed to education, sports, religious causes and assisting under-privileged communities.
Recent contributions include RM1 million to the Sarawak Disaster Management Fund to fight Covid-19 in the State at the beginning of the pandemic spread.
Yayasan OBYU has also donated towards development of an examination hall at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and new school block at SK Abang Ali in Sibu, as well as computers to Orphans Welfare Organisation Malaysia (Peryatim).
A major initiative by Yayasan OBYU is supporting the development of a 3,850-worshipper capacity mosque at Eco Ardence in Shah Alam, Selangor. The public is welcome to contribute to the mosque initiative.
