KUCHING, Dec 14: People of N12 Kota Sentosa, are you not jealous of the infrastructure and developments in other Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) constituencies?

With their concrete drains and upgraded roads that laid the foundation to more public facilities, GPS candidate for Kota Sentosa Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said Kota Sentosa could have the same growth as long as he was given a chance for five years.

No changes, he said, were brought to Kota Sentosa for over 15 years under the Opposition and stark differences in terms of development can already be seen between Kota Sentosa and other neighbouring constituencies.

If Kota Sentosa does not catch up soon, it would be left behind, he stressed.

“Times are changing. We need a person to represent the constituency, to move with the times and ensure the constituency keeps up with the changing environment, changing pace of development and to ensure that particular constituency at least be on par with other constituencies.

“I will try to ensure Kota Sentosa becomes a much, much better place, and I’m very confident that within five years, there will be change. Not because we talk about change, but positively the change will come,” he said.

As an assemblyman under the GPS government, Yap noted the people’s representative would annually, for five years, receive a constant amount of RM8 million each year for Rural Transformation Programm (RTP), Minor Rural Project (MRP) and repair for dilapidated houses.

With that much funding, there would be no excuse for no development in a constituency under GPS, he said.

If he or she were to be hardworking, they would take the initiative to apply for more funding from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) or the chief minister, he added.

“I’m the kind of person who will never say never. Nothing is impossible. It’s just the matter of whether you’re hardworking enough to knock on doors.

“If you have good ideas that could benefit the people, the society and the community. I’m sure anyone would be receptive to those ideas,” he said.

Yap, who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa branch chairman, thus urged the voters of Kota Sentosa to think twice before casting their votes this Dec 18.
