KUCHING, Mar 20: Private and public sectors workers having to work at the office during the movement control order (MCO) period will be given a special pass as proof that they are commuting for work purposes.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob revealed during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this morning that he had communicated with Senior Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali to issue the permission letter and liase with the respective state secretaries for further action.

“Therefore, those that are working (during MCO) will be given a special pass to be issued by the respective state secretaries as prove that they are allowed to work.

Hence, workers who are going through roadblocks by the police will be able to show the (working) pass to them,” he told a press conference after having a meeting on the update of coronavirus (Covid-19) at Putrajaya late this morning.

At the same time, he urged students who are spending their holidays at institution of higher learning especially public colleges to stay at the college and not to return back to their hometowns.

Ismail Sabri outlined that it was one of the approaches to prevent the spread of Covid-19 by controlling the movement of students.
In spite of that, he pointed out that students who had already returned to their hometowns are allowed to do so.

Ismail Sabri addressed the issue raised by students and parents about the lack of money to buy food supplies during their extended break at the college, assuring that food will be supplied to the students by the federal government.

On another note, he revealed that the federal government was in the process of transporting 55 Malaysians back to the country from Iran on March 22 and 94 Malaysians in Italy back to Malaysia on March 23.

Ismail Sabri said they will be subjected to a 14-day quarantine period because they were returning from countries with high incidence rates of Covid-19. —DayakDaily
