Sanitizers, face masks to be available in the local market again next week

KUCHING, Mar 20: Face masks and sanitizers are expected to be available in the market starting next week, revealed Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Sarawak director Datuk Stanley Tan.

He said both items had been out of stock due to the high demand even before the Restricted Movement Order was issued on March 17.

“These items are only available for healthcare workers and other frontline enforcement agencies. Now we can expect them to be available in Sarawak market next week,” Tan told DayakDaily today.

He disclosed that face masks and sanitizers were made in Peninsula Malaysia.

Tan said the federal government had increased the ceiling price for face masks and put a ban on face mask exports with two federal gazettes.

The new Customs (Prohibition of Exports) (Amendment) (No. 2) order 2020 and Price Control and Anti-Profiteering (determination of maximum price) (no. 2) order 2020 come into effect today and list the new prices.

Meanwhile, Tan said since the face masks and sanitizers were still not available in the market, he reminded people to stay at home in compliance with the current RMO which will last until end of March. —DayakDaily
