KUCHING, June 12: Bintulu MP Dato Seri Tiong King Sing is calling for all companies, including the industrial sector in Samalaju Industrial area, to cooperate with the authorities to expedite the Covid-19 vaccination process.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) in a news report today, Tiong made the call in light of the soon-to-be-activated, new Covid-19 vaccination center (PPV) at the Bintulu Press Metal Sdn Bhd aluminum smelting factory.

“I urge all companies and industrial sectors in the Samalaju Industrial area to give the cooperation by providing accurate information related to their employees to enable the Ministry of Health (MOH) to provide the recommendation on what activities that can be implemented in this area in order to reduce the spread of positive Covid-19 cases among employees,” he said during a press conference held at Samalaju Industrial area on Wednesday.

This, he emphasised, is important to ensure the smooth running of the Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in Bintulu division, especially for the vaccination process among industrial workers.

“As a start, about 6,000 workers from the Bintulu Press Metal Sdn Bhd will be given the vaccine,” he added.

On the same note, Tiong also called for the ‘Tuai Rumah’ in Bintulu to advise their villagers who are outside of the area to not return to the village or longhouses for the meantime, until the Covid-19 situation is addressed properly.

Apart from that, he noted, every longhouse in Bintulu must also tighten the outgoing and incoming access to their longhouses to help the government curb the spread of the virus.

“I do not want to see any more longhouses being imposed with the Movement Control Order (MCO). The ‘Tuai Rumah” and the village security and development committees (JKKK) must help to ensure the safety of everyone from Covid-19,” he said. — DayakDaily
