Video clip of armed robbery was not recorded in Kuching — Sarawak police chief

KUCHING, April 1: A video clip circulating on social media of two armed men purportedly robbing a supermarket at Tabuan Jaya actually did not happen in Kuching, confirms Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail.

The robbery happened at a convenience store in Shah Alam last year.

“The case happened at Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam. The date of the incident was March 18, 2019. It is recycled news,” Aidi told DayakDaily rebutting claims on social media that the robbery had taken place in Kuching.

In the video, two men arriving on motorcycle — one wearing a black helmet and the other a red helmet — are seen marching into a supermarket with machetes.

The suspect with the red helmet pushed a customer who had just paid and was about to leave back into the supermarket and snatched her purse.

He then stood at the entrance of the supermarket to act as a look out for his accomplice.

Meanwhile, the suspect with the black helmet went straight to the cash register and threatened the cashier at knifepoint.
