Unemployed man jailed 10 months for retaining stolen car rims

KUCHING, Nov 20: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a jobless man to ten months’ imprisonment and a fine of RM2,000 for dishonestly retaining stolen car rims.

Muhammad Syamrinuddin Dollah, 26, pleaded guilty to the charge framed.


Senior Assistant Registrar Nuraini Ahmad sentenced him to an imprisonment of ten months and a fine of RM 2,000 or in default to one month imprisonment.

He was charged with voluntarily retaining two rims and a tyre from a red Perodua Myvi belonging to Mohd Nabell Hamri, at Kampung Bako Industrial Park, at about 11.15am on November 14.

He was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term of six months to five years and liable to a fine.

According to the facts of the case, the victim found out that his Perodua Myvi has disappeared at about 10am on November 9. The car was found later and photos of the car’s condition went viral on social media, showing only the car frame left after it was stripped of parts.
