KUCHING, Oct 31: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president and Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas asserts that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidates will face a barrage of lies, accusations, and instigations in the upcoming general election (GE15).

According to a statement, Uggah pointed out that the people should simply ignore the opposition because lies, accusations, and instigations are being spread to disunite them and disrupt racial harmony and ties.

“They were also intended to erode the people’s support for GPS and persuade them to vote for the opposition,” he said today while officiating at a course for Betong parliamentary seat polling and counting agents in Spaoh, according to a statement.

The course was led by former State Election Commission (EC) director Datu Takun Sunggah.

Uggah claimed that if the people decide to support the opposition, the smooth implementation of the government’s development projects and programmes for them would be jeopardised.

Meanwhile, on the Betong seat, Uggah urged its voters to strongly support whoever the GPS candidate is.

“Let us continue to make Betong a GPS fortress. Let us all work hard, work smart, and think smart when it comes to making our decision.

“Let us express our gratitude to the GPS government for appointing our Layar assemblyman Datuk Gerald Rentap and our Saribas assemblyman Mohd Razi Sitam as deputy ministers following the State election last year.

“The establishment of the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) and its RM1.5 billion development budget are additional reasons why we should rally solidly behind GPS,” he added.

Furthermore, Uggah, who is also the Bukit Saban assemblyman, expressed confidence that the GPS candidate for Betong would perform well in the upcoming election, as voters had demonstrated a strong affinity for the GPS government.

Also present were Rentap, incumbent Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat, and a political secretary to the Sarawak Premier Dr Richard Rapu. — DayakDaily
